The Jack Miller Family Foundation, and its related philanthropic fund, the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Fund, were established out of a deeply held conviction of its founder, Jack Miller, that he has an obligation to pay society back for all the benefits and opportunities that he has been given by the previous generations. He believes it is his responsibility to preserve, add to and pass on to future generations those benefits and opportunities. Our mission is to use our resources to support entities and initiatives that adhere to Jack Miller’s core beliefs, while binding the members of Jack Miller’s family together through a common charitable endeavor.
We recognize that resources are limited and, as one source noted, “foundations thrive when they specialize, when they focus their resources and develop an expertise in achieving a specific set of charitable endeavors.” Consequently, the majority of our annual grant-making activities are directed toward a limited number of priority areas.
In these fields, we endeavor to maximize the impact of our grant by concentrating our support where it can be most effective, by seeking to utilize our own philanthropic funds to leverage other resources and by supporting organizations with a demonstrated capacity to achieve their objectives or which evidence strong promise of doing so. Where possible, funds are used in a strategic fashion for new initiatives and to attract additional donors.
We only support organizations whose missions fall within the following program areas: Freedom Initiatives, Jewish Initiatives, Medical Initiatives, and to a lesser extent, community organizations and initiatives where we reside.
The Jack Miller Family Foundation and the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Fund are the result of an organizational evolution of the Jack Miller family’s philanthropy. Prior to this consolidation, the Jack Miller family’s philanthropy was conducted under the auspices of the Audrey and Jack Miller Family Charitable Foundation, the Jack and Goldie Wolfe Miller Foundation and the JM Freedom Foundation.
